Company: Holland Pump Company
Location: Wellington, Florida, United States
William Blodgett, President of Holland Pump Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction.
Initially pursuing a career in jazz performance, Mr. Blodgett decided to change career paths and focus on social anthropology, which led to him doing field research in Africa. After his stint with this research, his stepfather, a general contractor, helped him get a job in residential and commercial construction, whereupon he began to work with Holland Pump. Holland Pump manufactures, sells, rents, repairs, and services pumps for a wide range of applications including construction, mining, agricultural, horizontal drilling and bypass pumping. He started as an assistant service manager and eventually worked his way up to presiding over the entire company. He has served as the president of the company since 2008.
Mr. Blodgett credits his success in the construction industry for having a passion for solving problems for his customers; it’s always of a technical nature, which he finds fascinating. The water business is very fascinating right now, especially as water quality concurrent with global warming becomes a huge issue. To prepare for his career, Mr. Blodgett first earned a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from Evergreen State College in 1986. He later received an MBA from Florida Atlantic University in 2002. That same year, he was selected as the runner-up of the FAU Business Plan Competition. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the Contractor’s Pump Bureau, the American Equipment and Manufacturer’s Association, the National Underground Contractor’s Association, the American Rental Association and the International Society of Technical and Environmental Professionals.
