Gilbert Stanley Leonard, BS, MS, United States Naval Reserve, Oil Company Executive at Exxon Mobil Co. USA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in infrastructure service.

Mr. Leonard became involved in his profession because his father wanted him to become an engineer and then his uncle, who was a Naval aviator, influenced him to go to Naval ROTC, which he did. He had a devastating day at Pensacola, Florida, but it was a change of life experience because he wanted to fly an airplane that could not fly. However, Mr. Leonard learned command control and leadership on the deck of a destroyer called the USS Charles. R. Ware (DD865). Then, he had a tough decision to make in regards to his career in the Navy. Mr. Leonard chose to end his career with the Navy because the price he would have had to pay would have been too high. The price was that he would have to serve three more years for every year they gave him an education, which added up to nine more years in total, so he left and pursued the things he wanted to do. Mr. Leonard was a lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve from 1964 to 1966. While in the Navy, he received a BS in industrial management from the University of Purdue in 1964. In 1970, Mr. Leonard earned an MS in Business from The University of Kentucky.

The highlight of Mr. Leonard’s career was his time spent in the Navy. He also enjoyed being a mentor to others and mentoring them to understand what it took to lead people. After the Navy, Mr. Leonard joined the Tennessee Eastman Co. as a production planner from 1966-1968. From there, he joined Exxon Co., USA, where he has spent over 40 years working as a marketing analysis, strategic systems planner, systems supervisor, and infrastructure systems manager, to name a few. He is currently a senior systems supervisor with Exxon Co., USA. Mr. Leonard has also worked as an instructor at Texas A&M University before joining the Lone Star College-Cyfair as an academic workforce advisor. As a testament to his success, Mr. Leonard has received the Exxon Quality Tiger Award in 1991 and has been including in multiple editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
