Molleen Matsumara, Educational Organization Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education management.

Ms. Matsumara became involved in her profession because she was a gifted writer throughout all of her life. As a child, she used her writing to ask and answer questions she had about the world around her. As she progressed in her schooling, she began to read and learn about secular humanism. She attended a few lectures by Paul Kurtz who was an expert on this topic. Inspired, she became more and more involved in this field by attending conferences, becoming very well-known due to her passion and expertise. Ms. Matsumara was motivated by wanting to advocate on what she believed in.

In her own academic pursuits, Ms. Matsumara earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Berkeley in 1970. Since 1981, she has dedicated her skills and efforts as a senior editor and director of the Alin Foundation. In 1993, she became the network project director for the National Center for Science Education. In these endeavors, Ms. Matsumara is most proud of her work in preserving evolution education in the United States for future generations. In 1993, her work was recognized upon receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the Council for Secular Humanism.

Ms. Matsumara has continued her love of writing through a variety of creative positions and contributions. She served in varying editorial roles with Free Inquiry Magazine, the Missing Link Newsletter, Voices for Evolution and as a co-author of “Japan’s Economy in World Perspective,” “Sex in China,” “Mother-to-be: Pregnancy and Birth for Women With Disabilities.” Throughout her career, Ms. Matsumara has maintained professional affiliation with the American Association of University Women, the ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State. She has also been a member of Feminists for Free Expression.
