Michael Braude, Retired President at the Kansas City Board Trade, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of banking.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Braude attended the University of Missouri, Columbia where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1957. Soon thereafter he secured a Master of Science from Columbia University in 1958. Upon completion of his final degree, he joined Commerce Bank in Kansas City as the vice president in 1962. After four years, Dr. Braude was hired by the Mercantile Bank in Kansas City as a vice president – position that he held from 1966 to 1973. He continued advancing through his career, serving as the executive vice president of American Bank in Kansas City for 11 years, further being recruited to the Kansas City Board of Trade in 1984. He would go on to hold the posts of chief executive officer and president of the organization before announcing his retirement in 2001. Three years later, Dr. Braude was presented an Honorary Doctorate degree from Baker University.
Alongside his primary responsibilities, he served on the board of directors for the Midwest Trust Co., the Kansas City Life Insurance Co., Hodgdon Corp., and MGP Ingredients. An active member of his community, he has devoted a portion of his time as president of the Metropolitan Community College Foundation as well as a trustee for the Kansas Public Employment Retirement Systems and Baker University. Additionally, Dr. Braude is a published author whose written works include “Managing Your Money,” articles that were submitted to the Kansas City Business Journal, and 12 children’s books. What prompted Dr. Braude to start writing children’s books was his ten-year-old nephew, who often questioned him about the stock market. Moreover, he decided to write his first book about the stock market for his nephew and continued to write more.
Dr. Braude attributes his inspiration and motivation to his desire to succeed. He believes it was instilled in him from his parents who had great work ethics and were in the retail business. As a testament to his success, Dr. Braude was presented the Faculty Alumni Award by the University of Missouri in 2000. Likewise, he has been featured in editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
