Raymond Mattern Trageser, retired Insurance Company Executive at Transamerica Insurance, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in insurance.

Mr. Trageser became involved in his profession because he came from a middle-class family and was always interested in investing while he was in high school. He also collected coins and this led him to pursue finance. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he decided he wanted a job in insurance or banking. Mr. Trageser took classes at Duquesne University from 1952 to 1954 but then he decided to serve in the military. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was stationed in Germany, after two years he was honorably discharged. While in the U.S. Army, Mr. Trageser took coursework at Columbia University, the University of Southern California and various other universities. After his military service in 1959, he went back to school at the University of Pittsburgh and took classes from 1959 to 1961.

 The highlight of Mr. Trageser’s career was getting to travel to all the places of education and sites while he was enlisted in the Army. Another highlight of his career was being promoted to vice president of Transamerica Insurance. Upon ending his service in the military, Mr. Trageser joined Continental Insurance in 1957 as an underwriter. He moved up to senior underwriter, assistant superintendent of casualty and finally superintendent of casualty until he left in 1965. From there, he joined Transamerica Insurance in 1965 as a manager of underwriting. He remained at Transamerica Insurance until he retired in 1990. He held positions of manager of marketing, branch manager, regional manager and resident vice president. Following his retirement, Mr. Trageser went into business for himself in 1992 as a commercial editor in the state of Pennsylvania. He continued in that position until 2004.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Trageser has been inducted as a member of various esteemed organizations including, Insurance Clubs of Pittsburgh, Casualty and Property Managers Association of Philadelphia, Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania, Vesper Club, Urban Club and Rotary International. He was also the president of the Casualty Association of Pittsburgh from 1965 to 1967. Furthermore, he has been listed in numerous editions of Who’s Who in the East and the 10th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
