Roberta J. Sarraf, AICP, Retired Planning Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of land development.
Driven by the disastrous events taken place in Pittsburgh during the 1960s, Ms. Sarraf decided to pursue a career in land development and planning. Upon the completion of a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in 1967, she earned a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the renowned institution in 1969. After receiving a certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), she began her career as a planner for the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs in Pittsburgh, between 1970 and 1976. Soon thereafter, she accepted a position with the Township of Upper St. Clair from 1976 to 1982, before retiring as a consultant planning in Pittsburgh between 1982 and 2013.
The highlight of Ms. Sarraf’s career was acting as an expert witness in zoning matters. She enjoyed the opportunity to work with attorneys, learning the law, and molding her knowledge into testimonies that would assist her clients. In addition to her primary endeavors, Ms. Sarraf contributed as an instructor for the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs for 19 years, while serving as a delegate with the Environmental Planning to the People’s Republic of China. Earlier in her career, she interned for Representative James G. Fulton in Washington, D.C. Civically, she worked as the secretary and board director of the Chartiers Mental Health Center in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, for four years and has devoted her time to the University of Pittsburgh Annual Giving Fund, the Mount Lebanon Public Safety Building Capital Campaign, the Bower Hill Community Church, and the South Hills Family Hospice. As a testament to her success in the field, she has been featured in editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women.
