Kenneth Smotherman, Owner and Operator at Smotherman Farms Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of business.
Mr. Smotherman earned a degree in engineering from Mclennan Community College in 1982, during his time working as a roughneck and logging analyst for Dixie-Lynn Drilling, Union 76, and Schlumberger Limited from 1980 to 1983. Once he became certified as a hotel administrator, he found success as a general manager at the Best Western Hotel in Western Columbus before becoming a systems operations lead specialist and instructor from 1988 to 1994. Mr. Smotherman excelled in the position of a software engineer for Best Western and afterward worked as a senior product manager and a manager of system development for Anasazi Hotel Systems from 1997 to 2000.
After completing his employment with Anasazi Hotel Systems, Mr. Smotherman took on the role of contract analyst with Matrix from 2000 to 2001. The following year, he and his wife, Dana, made the decision to change careers for the good of their family. Rather than a demanding work schedule that kept them away save for weekends, operating Smotherman Farms Ltd. gave them a slower pace of life and they felt right in their decision.
In addition to his immediate professional responsibilities, Mr. Smotherman was the secretary for the West Lodge #45 masonic lodge from 2012 to 2013 and has served as the secretary since 2007. Aside from extended time with his family, the most rewarding part of his current profession is that he gets to feed the world and millions of families. Featured in Manure Manager Magazine, Mr. Smotherman’s company operates over three farm locations and ships over 625,000 turkeys each year. Hoping to continue his success over the coming years, he is a prime example of his own personal motto: never give up.
