Gilbert Chamby, Optical Company Executive, Consultant and President of Chamby Consultant Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in optometry, business administration and consulting.

Mr. Chamby prepared for his career in his native country of France, studying at the School of Optometrie from 1948 to 1952. Upon his graduation, he began serving as an optician at Les Freres Lissac in Paris, additionally working as a marketer for both Essilor and Maritime Optical Company. In 1959, he accepted as a position as technical director at E. B. Meyrowitz Inc. in New York City, and in 1960, he immigrated to the United States. Mr. Chamby is a licensed optician in the states of New York, Florida, and Georgia, and in 1967, he became a certified Master Optician. That same year, he transitioned to a position as executive vice president of Lugene, Inc., and after more than a decade, he rose to the rank of president of the company. From 1986 to 1988, during his career as president, he served as chairman of Lugene Inc. and chairman of the Optical Corporation of America.

In 1988, Mr. Chamby began working as a consultant and as the president of his own company, Chamby Consultant Inc., in Palm Beach, Florida, where he remained until 2016. Since 2003, he has worked as an optical company executive, and in addition to his professional pursuits, he devoted several years of his life to military service, serving in the French army from 1952 to 1954. In 1953, he authored “Dispensing Optician,” and in 1965, he contributed to the Journal of Ophthalmology. His father was also in the optical industry in France but unfortunately, he died during World War II, while Mr. Chamby was very young. Mr. Chamby was inspired by his father’s career achievements, and is proud to have honored him by following in his footsteps.
