Thomas Wedekind, Chief Executive Officer of Personal Enrichment through Mental Health Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of mental health.
Throughout his early career, Mr. Wedekind worked as an institutional coordinator, a sociology professor at Hillsboro Community College, and as a field instructor at Case Western Reserve University. From 1983 to 2016, he worked as the executive director of Personal Enrichment through Mental Health Services, and since 2016, he has served as the chief executive officer of the company. Additionally, Mr. Wedekind continues to work as a consultant in his field, and has written several articles in Hospital and Community Psychiatry.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Wedekind studied at Colby College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, with honors, in 1969. He continued his academic pursuits at the University of Chicago, where he earned an MSW in social service administration in 1973. He is also a Certified Health Executive and has been recognized for his excellence with an Albion Wood Small Prize in Sociology. Mr. Wedekind is the former administrator of a vast deinstitutionalization project focusing on psychosocial programming, and he currently works with Medicaid Waiver. In the future, he looks forward to joining in on projects regarding crisis intervention services.
Mr. Wedekind advises the next generation of aspiring mental health professionals to make sure they are in touch with advocacy. He believes that, if nothing else, it is important to lay the groundwork for the future of advocacy and to listen to what others are saying. He has maintained affiliations with multiple professional organizations, including the National Association of Certified Social Workers, the Florida Council of Community Health, the Florida Association of Mental Health Administrators, the Association of Healthcare Executives, and the National Association of the Mentally Ill.
