Charles Le Grand, Chief Executive at CHL Global Associates, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business administration and data processing.
As a young man, Mr. Le Grand served in the United States Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps from 1967 to 1971. He earned a Bachelor of Aviation Management at Auburn University in 1972, and holds multiple professional certifications, including a Certificate in Data Processing (CDP), Basic and Standard certificates from the American Bankers Association, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from The Institute of Internal Auditors, and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) by ISACA. Following his graduation from Auburn University, he accepted a position as a programming technician at the Prudential Insurance Company of America, working in this venture until 1974. He proceeded to work as a lecturer in business data processing at Jacksonville University from 1973 to 1976, and as a senior electronic data processing auditor at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida from 1974 to 1976. In 1976 he became manager of electronic data processing audits for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Colorado.
In 1978, Mr. Le Grand applied his knowledge and experience at Barnett Banks of Florida Inc., where he worked as EDP Auditing Officer for the holding company. In 1981, he transitioned to a position as the manager of advanced technology at the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). In 1989, he became the director of research for the IIA Research Foundation, where he directed the Systems Auditability and Control (SAC) project working closely with IBM in IIA’s largest-ever project , and introduced Environmental Auditing to the internal auditing profession. He served in other roles at IIA, including Chief Information Officer, and Director of Advanced Technology. In his work with the IIA, he co-chaired the Corporate Information Security Working Group (CISWG) for the U.S. House of Representatives to document principles of information security, and he managed a project for the U.S. Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office (CIAO), working with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) to document “Board Level Guidance in Information Security” for the newly formed Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In February, 2005, he started as the chief executive of CHL Global Associates, a projects and consulting company. In addition to other professional pursuits at CHL GA, he authored the LexisNexis: “Handbook for Internal Auditors,” “Bank Holding Company Compliance Manual,” and the “Bank Internal Control Manual.”
In 2019, after a long career serving others in business, Mr. Le Grand is in the process of retiring from CHL Global Associates – as soon as he finds a new author for the Bank Internal Control Manual. He intends to spend the coming years traveling, visiting with his six children, seven grandchildren, and large extended family. As a hobby, he makes miniature wire puzzles of stainless steel. He stopped maintaining his own website addressing information security because of the speed at which such information becomes outdated. Once fully retired, he intends to devote the CHLGA.com website to his work with puzzles, and other favorite topics.
As a testament to his success and experience, Mr. Le Grand received a Commendation Letter from President William J. Clinton for his work with CIAO and DHS. He has also been featured in the third edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America and the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
