Dorothea Ioannou, Chief Commercial Officer at The American P&I Club, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in management.
Ms. Ioannou was inspired by her parents and her grandmother to work hard and enter the professional world. She has worked for the American P&I Club for over 14 years presently serves as the chief commercial officer at Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. within the company. Having held this role since January 2018, Ms. Ioannou is responsible for implementation, coordination and oversight of the overall commercial strategy of the organization. She reports directly to the chief executive officer and chief operations officer to ensure all functions are aligned to meet commercial objectives. Additionally, she holds to role of global business development director and is responsible for oversight, modeling, coordination and strategy of all business development initiatives across all offices and regions for the American Club and its managers. Ms. Ioannou’s previous roles within the company include managing and regional business development director, deputy claims manager, and claims executive, all within the company’s office in Piraeus, Greece, where she handled client relations in the region and supervised team members.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Ioannou has been lauded with the Lloyd’s List Global Next Generation in Shipping Award in 2017 and the Exaleiptron Award in 2016. Ms. Ioannou advises others in her field to be open-minded and willing to learn from others. Ms. Ioannou attributes her success to working hard, being patient, and giving to others. She is a mentor for the Global Internship Young Executives in Shipping Mentorship Program and enjoys sharing her success with others. In preparation for her career, Ms. Ioannou earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in Byzantine studies from the City University of New York, Queens College in 1993 and a JD from St. John’s University School of Law in 1996.
