Stormy Irwin, Writer at Softball Summaries, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in publishing.
Utilizing more than 60 years of professional experience, Ms. Irwin has been a writer with Softball Summaries since 2010. She also recently served as a writer with Softball National News from 2010 to 2017. In addition to her primary roles, she has written articles for Adventures from the West Coast to the East Coast including Alaska and Canada since 1982, and articles about the house-boating experience at Lake Shasta from 1979 to 1984. Earlier in her career, she was with Zellerbach Paper Company from 1952 to 1985, also serving as editor, publisher, and owner of Women in Softball from 1972 to 1978 and Women in Sports from 1957 to 1971.
Ms. Irwin was first inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age, having been a female athlete during a time when it was rare. She discovered the Women’s National Softball Tournament and was further inspired to begin writing about it and help get the women some attention. She was dissatisfied with the way the newspapers of the time handled her submissions, so she began her own publications and continued to write in the way she felt was more appropriate. Throughout her career, Ms. Irwin has been recognized for her contributions. Named to the Softball Sacramento City Hall of Honor, she won 31 titles in volleyball, basketball, flag football, and softball before retiring from play at 65. She was the recipient of the First Place Plaque for Continuous Coverage of Softball for Non-Daily Publications with a Circulation of under 50,000 from the National Softball Broadcasters and Writers Association and the Amateur Softball Association of Oklahoma City from 1965 to 1968 and 1971 to 1973. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who of American Women.
