Harold Holder, Managing Director of the Holder Group, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in management.
With 65 years of professional experience, Dr. Holder has been the managing director of the Holder Group, Inc., since 1987. Prior to establishing his firm, he was board chair, chief executive officer, and director of the American Agronomics Corporation from 1973 to 1986, president of Rahall Communications Corporation from 1971 to 1973, and vice president of Interstate Stores in 1971. Earlier in his career, he was president of Cunningham Drug Stores, Inc., from 1969 to 1970, having held a number of positions with Sears, Roebuck, and Company from 1954 to 1969.
Dr. Holder first pursued an education with Anniston Business College, where he completed coursework in 1949. He continued his studies with Jacksonville State University, completing coursework from 1954 to 1957, and he completed coursework with Druitt School of Speech in 1962. He later earned a PhD in economics from Richmond University in 2005. He has also completed a Master of Arts in merchandising and marketing with Sears Staff School, and he completed coursework in advanced executive management with Harvard University.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Holder has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a past chair of the Young Presidents Organization, the past chair of the beautification committee and retail business committee of the Chamber of Commerce, and he is a member of the Chief Executives Forum and Omicron Delta Kappa. A former trustee of the Nevada Museum of Art, he has served on the board of directors of United Way Hillsborough County, FL. He has also been active with Miracle, Inc., United Appeal, the Heart Fund Drive, the American Academy of Achievement, and the American Red Cross.
Throughout his career, Dr. Holder has been recognized for his contributions. Named Nevada Entrepreneur of the Year, he was also named Nevada Hotelier of the Year, USMC Marine Honoree of the Year, and a Champion of Higher Education. He was the recipient of a Humanitarian Award from the Florida National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Golden Plate Award, and the Marion County 4-H Club Distinguished Service Award. The US Department of Defense named him a Patriotic Employer, Nevada Disabled American Veterans Large twice named in Employer of the Year, and Eckerd College named the Harold D. Holder Chair of International Business and Finance in his honor.
