Donald Cook, Senior Pastor of the Harvest Tabernacle Bible Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious service.
Prior to his professional pursuits as a religious leader, Dr. Cook attended Morehouse College, where he earned a BBA with a minor in management in 2006. He subsequently received a PhD from Blackfriars Hall and completed postgraduate coursework at St. Anne’s College at the University of Oxford. In addition, Dr. Cook holds a Master of Science in church management from the School of Business at Villanova University. He holds a certificate in faith leadership from the Jack Hayford School of Pastoral Nurture in the University of Southern California, a certification in theology and ministry from Princeton University and a social justice certification from Boston University.
Dr. Cook began his career as a youth pastor at the Harvest Tabernacle Bible Church in 2000, a role he continues to hold to this day. He served the church as an assistant and executive pastor before rising to the position of a senior pastor in 2016. As a two-time Simon A. Simon PIKE Fellow, Dr. Cook has served on the Morehouse Board of Preachers and was the founder of both the Harvest Seminary and the Harvest Tabernacle CDC. He has been a contributing writer to the Cecil Murray Center of Community Engagement at the University of Southern California since 2016.
Among his myriad career achievements, Dr. Cook has been recognized for his excellence with numerous awards and accolades. He was named an International Scholar Laureate by the Golden Key International Honor Society and is a Jack Hayford Scholar. In addition, he was presented with the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Scholars Award and the Morehouse College Board of Preachers & Scholars Award. Dr. Cook has maintained affiliation with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, the Pi Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
Dr. Cook’s family is very important to him, and his career in the ministry is based on his familial foundation. Both his father, Bishop Donald R. Cook Sr., and his mother, Debra R. Cook, instilled in him the importance of God, family, and education from a young age. Even Dr. Cook’s grandmother, aunt, and wife are involved in the church and the faith. In the coming years, the Harvest Tabernacle Bible Church will relocate. Together, with the other members of the church, Dr. Cook will be transforming the property into a community with a 75-unit complex for low- to moderate-income families. The ministry is growing, and the church aims to serve the community beyond just Sunday mornings.
