Title: Information Technology Specialist
Company: Department of Veteran Affairs
Location: Villa Park, Illinois, United States
Karen Pollock, information technology specialist at the Department of Veteran Affairs, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in information technology.
Ms. Pollock attended Elmhurst College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in information systems in 1984. She proceeded to continue on that path for the rest of her career, as she enjoyed working with computers. In 1993, she earned a master’s in information systems from North Central College. She began working in 1985 at the National Data Corporation in Lombard, Illinois, as a formatter. However, her mother later suggested she pursue a job with the government. Ms. Pollock liked the sound of that idea and applied for an open position with the Department of Veteran Affairs in Hines, Illinois. She was hired in 1985 and continues to exceed expectations as an information technology specialist today.
Ms. Pollock enjoys her work, which is her primary reason for staying with the company for so long. Serving veterans and their families is always a rewarding experience. She considers every moment she spends helping them to be the highlights of her career. She has seen many changes throughout her time with the company, though she has never been discouraged. In the future, Ms. Pollock looks forward to remaining in her current position and helping as many veterans as possible.
An exceptional Marquis listee, Ms. Pollock is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women, as well as the first edition of Who’s Who in the Media and Communication.
