With 30 years of professional experience, Mr. DeSantis has been acting director of planning environmental and economic development for the City of Niagara Falls, NY, since 2009, and since 2019 he also serves as Executive Director of the Niagara Falls Urban Renewal Agency. Prior to these current posts, he served as a senior planner since 1996. Mr. DeSantis has been a certified (AICP) since 1998. From 1993 to 1996, he was a research associate with the State University of New York at Buffalo, and from 1992 to 1993 he was a release analyst with Livingston International. Earlier in his career, he was a project coordinator for the City of Niagara Falls, NY, from 1989 to 1992.
Mr. DeSantis first pursued an education with the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in environmental design in 1979. He later continued his studies with the school, earning a Master of Arts in urban planning in 1996. An active member of his community, he has been affiliated with the American Planning Association and the Urban Land Institute. He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners.
