Gary Wiren, PhD, Founder of Golf Around the World, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in golf.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Wiren has been the founder of Golf Around the World since 1982. In addition to his primary role, he has served as a golf educator and senior director of instruction for Trump Golf Properties since 2003. Earlier in his career, he was the director of education, learning, and research for the PGA of America from 1972 to 1985, and he served as the education director, club relations director, and director of learning and research for the PGA for 13 years.

Dr. Wiren first pursued an education with Huron College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1958. He continued his studies with the University of Michigan, completing a Master of Science in sports science in 1960. He then joined the University of Oregon, earning a PhD of sports science in 1970. He has been certified as a PGA master professional instructor.

A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Wiren has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. A master member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, he has been named an honorary member of the New Zealand PGA. He has also been active with the Golf Writers Association of America, the United States Golf Association, the Society of Hickory Golfers, the Shiva Irons Society, the National Golf Foundation, the International Network of Golf, and the Academy of Golf Art. A founding member of the Golf Collectors Society of America and the Gold Heritage Society, he has helped found three golf schools.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wiren has been recognized for his contributions. An honoree in nine golf halls of fame, he has been named Teacher of the Year by PGA America, and he is listed among the Top 50 by Golf Digest. Golf Magazine has named him among America’s Best Teachers, and he was given the Herb Graffis Award and the Joe Graffis Award from the National Golf Foundation. He received the Rolex Ellen Griffin Award and the National Merit Award from the Golf Course Owners Association of America, and he has received Distinguished Service Awards from the Swedish Golf Union and the Italian Golf Federation.
