With 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Metzger has been retired since 2005, having been the president of MKM, Inc., since 1980, the president of Cappy’s Pub and Wine Bar since 1990, and the owner of Forty Winks Inn since 1978. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was the owner of the Phoenix Inn from 1978 to 1983 and the owner of the Glyn Holm Motel from 1972 to 1978. He has also served as a motel broker with Smith Realty Company, Inc., from 1970 to 1986.

Mr. Metzger began his career in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He then pursued an education with the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1969. He is a member of the American Hotel and Motel Association, the Motel Broker Association of America, and the Milwaukee Board of Realtors. He has also been active with the Milwaukee Innkeepers Association, the Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce, the Bahama Survivors Association, the American Legion, the Masons, the Shriners, the Scottish Rite, the Milwaukee Yacht Club, and the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.
