Inspired to enter his field by his community 50 years ago, Mr. Fishman is a publisher and editor with the Citizen Tribune in Morristown, Tennessee, and the president and chief executive officer of Lakeway Publishers, Inc., since 1966. He began his professional career as the director of the Camden High School band in 1955, before managing the Jesup Chamber of Commerce from 1956 to 1959 and the Morristown Chamber of Commerce from 1959 to 1965. He then served the Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Association in Nashville as executive director from 1965 to 1966, and later serving as president of the Tennessee Press Service in Knoxville from 1981 to 1986 and director of SunTrust Bank in both Morristown and Knoxville. Prior to the start of his career, Mr. Fishman pursued a formal education at the University of Memphis, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1955. He went on to complete graduate coursework at the Southeastern Institute of Organizational Management at the University of North Carolina (UNC) in 1958, the UNC Academy of Organization and Management in 1961, and the Industrial Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma in 1964.

Highly active in his local community through numerous civic endeavors, Mr. Fishman additionally served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. National Guard from 1955 to 1966. He also maintains involvement with several organizations related to his field such as the National Newspaper Association, the National Newspaper Association Foundation, the Tennessee Press Association, the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executive Association, Kiwanis International, the East Tennessee Industrial Council, the Knoxville Area Newspaper Network and the Newspaper Association of America, among others. A Paul Harris fellow of the Rotary Club in 1991, Mr. Fishman is the recipient of myriad honors and accolades throughout his career, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, he was selected for inclusion in the 17th edition of Who’s Who in the World and the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
