Darlene Geekie, Chief Executive Officer at Veterinary Angels Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business ownership.
At a young age, Ms. Geekie developed an interest in animals. During her high school years, she had access to reptiles and would join her teachers in performing shows for kids. This experience encouraged her to pursue her passion for animals, while her entrepreneurial spirit guided her to become a business owner in the field. In 2001, she earned a Vascular Technologist certification from Pierce College and later became a licensed falconer.
Ms. Geekie began her career as the co-owner and practice manager of a veterinary clinic in 2005, before assuming the role of a consultant and project manager in the construction of FixNation in 2008. FixNation is a non-profit feral cat program based in Los Angeles. In 2012, she became the owner and chief executive officer of the Veterinary Angels Medical Center. Through her company, Ms. Geekier vet services in allergies, dermatology, behavioral counseling, dentistry, surgery, ultrasounds, vaccinations, nutrition, and exotic pet care. In addition, she provides emergency first aid kits for animals. With every kit sold, 5% goes back to her non-profit, Little Angel’s Project, to help sustain the organization.
While serving as a business owner in the veterinarian field, she recognized the importance of educating her staff and the impact it has on the practice’s success. Ms. Geekie also attributes the excellence of Veterinary Angels Medical Center to her grit and passion for the needs of the animals in her community. A past lecturer for companies such as Webster, OraStrip, and Midmark, Ms. Geekie also contributes her time as a board member of the Monterrey Zoo. For her accomplishments in the field, she has been featured several publications both locally and domestically. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, the outdoors and crafting in her spare time. In the coming years, Ms. Geekie would like to contribute more to disaster relief within her community.
