Annie Mecias-Murphy, Co-Owner at JA and M Developing Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in general construction.
Dr. Mecias-Murphy was initially inspired to pursue her career in construction because of the idea of the “American Dream,” as inspired by her parents who came to this country. Her father worked in Construction from the time he first arrived and her mother was a teacher. She grew to understand the importance of an education and decided to pursue a degree with hopes of becoming a business owner in the near future. After studying English, political science, counseling and theology, Dr. Mecias-Murphy earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Barry University in 2007.
At the start of her career, Dr. Mecias-Murphy worked as a counselor in the school system for close to 15 years. She decided after some time to work in her father’s company full time. While growing up she worked on different facets throughout the company and eventually obtained her General Contractor’s License. Since 2005, Dr. Mecias-Murphy has excelled as the co-owner of JA & M Developing Corp., a construction firm serving South Florida. A full service contracting company, JA&M Developing Corp. provides turnkey shell services in the areas of concrete, masonry, structural steel, rough carpentry, and stucco. Additionally, the company assists in value engineering, commercial construction, municipality work, and luxury residential projects. She attributes her professional success to her drive and the work ethic that her parents instilled in her. Additionally, she considers her education to be one of her greatest assets, both on a personal and professional level.
Civically, Dr. Mecias-Murphy remains active in Metro Life Church, and considers her faith to be a cornerstone of her success. Looking toward the future, Dr. Mecias-Murphy hopes to run for local public office while continuing expanding her business. Recognized regionally for excellence in construction, she has been honored as the 2016 Woman of the Year. Moreover, Dr. Mecias-Murphy is a member of the Board of Directors of the Broward County Boys & Girls Club as well as a Board Member of The ABC Florida East Coast Chapter (A National Construction Association).
