Growing up on a dairy farm in West Virginia, Mr. Pancake quickly learned the values, morals, and work ethic that are the catalyst to succeed in the business world. Since 2003, he has served as the principal and chief executive officer of Buffalo Wild Wings, High 5 Hospitality, previously serving as senior director of corporate operations for Buffalo Wild Wings from 1997 to 2003. Now the franchisee of eight Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in Delaware and Maryland, as well as Eggspectation in Christiana, Mr. Pancake has earned distinction as the co-owner of the Stone Balloon Alehouse, Limestone BBQ and Bourbon. Mr. Pancake commenced his career in the restaurant business in 1982 as market manager, CMI of Virginia for Kentucky Fried Chicken. In 1992 he took on the role of director of company operations for Kenny Rogers Roasters in Fort Lauderdale, and in 1997 he was service manager at Silver Diner in Rockville, Maryland.
Certified in foodservice management by the National Restaurant Association, Mr. Pancake is supported by numerous awards and recognitions for his establishments. Most recently, in 2020, he was named to the Delaware Business Times 90 in 90 and appointed to the Keyser High School Legion of Honor. In 2019 he further distinguished himself as a listee of the Delaware Business Times’ Fastest Fifty, was awarded by the Delaware Restaurant Association as Restaurateur of the Year in 2011 and was the recipient of the Neighborhood Award as the State of Delaware Winner by the National Restaurant Association for five consecutive years, from 2010 to 2015. Additionally, Mr. Pancake received the Buffalo Wild Wings Founders Award in 2009.
Mr. Pancake is a board member of Franchise Business Services, sits on the Buffalo Wild Wings Franchise Advisory Council, and is a former chair of the Delaware Restaurant Association. Additionally, he is an honorary commander and civic leader of the U.S. Air Force’s Dover Air Force Base, and proudly attended a meeting with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office of the White House in 2010. Mr. Pancake’s main goal for each of his restaurants is to focus on quality rather than acclaim, as customers’ happiness is his priority. He attributes his years of career success to hard work, resilience, perseverance, and never relenting in the face of obstacles.
