Jennifer Collier, Senior Vice President at Sun Life U.S., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health insurance.
With a strong interest in health care since her early college years, Ms. Collier tried many different arenas in the sciences before finding nursing. In 1994, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College, opening the door to her career in the field of health and medicine. Trained as a holistic nurse, Ms. Collier commenced her career at the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1994, specializing in cardiac and integrated medicine. In 1998, she took on the role of project coordinator at the university’s department of health and human services, which she held until 2000.
While serving a nurse, Ms. Collier became frustrated once taking notice of the way patients were often rushed through their treatment instead of being treated properly. From this, she decided to enter the corporate side of health care where she felt she could make a real difference in the treatment of patients. In 2001, she obtained a Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing from the University of Connecticut and decided that working for an insurance company would touch on everything she wanted to accomplish. Ms. Collier’s biggest goal is to ensure that she has an impact on health care, as well as to consistently offer her clients stability and empathy while working together.
Today, Ms. Collier serves as the senior vice president of Sun Life U.S., a financial security company in the health care sector. Since 2017, she has also been the solutions senior director of United States Commercials. She previously served Cigna as the chief operating officer of their Middle Market from 2018 to 2019. Earlier on, she was chief operating officer of select segment from 2014 to 2019. She additionally held the roles of vice president of clinical operations from 2009 to 2014 and vice president of strategic implementation from 2008 to 2009. Ms. Collier was also the director of underwriting operations for Stop Loss from 2004 to 2008. She commenced her newfound career path in the insurance industry with Cigna in 2002 as a marketing proposal and quality manager turned national underwriting account management leader.
Ms. Collier attributes her success to the great mentors she has had throughout the course of her career. Dedicated to the mission of her work, she plans to continue to advocate for and present better insurance offers for those in need. She thoroughly enjoys her work and looks forward to doing so for the foreseeable future. Ms. Collier is a member of SIIA and is also involved with the American Red Cross, United Way, Achilles International, and Make A Wish. In her free time, she enjoys any sort of outdoor or water-related activity.
