George William Roos, Physicist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physics and project management.
Mr. Roos thoroughly enjoyed his high school physics class, which motivated him to earn a Bachelor of Science in the field from Iona College. In the years following his graduation, he was hired as a physicist for the Naval Research Laboratory. However, he soon transitioned into work as an officer with the United States Navy. He carried out operations as an executive officer on the USS Phoebe until 1957. Once his time with the Navy ended, Mr. Roos began working in project management.
From 1957 until 1968, Mr. Roos worked as the program manager for the electric boat division at the General Dynamics Company. He remained there until 1992, holding various titles including director of industrial relations, director of resource management, and vice president of the human resources Convair division. Mr. Roos then took on the role of general manager for Hughes Unmanned Strike Systems. He worked there until 1993, proceeding to become the chairman of Sandarc, Inc. in 1994. He remains there today, alongside his position as the financial reporter for his local library. As a testament to Mr. Roos’ numerous career achievements, he is featured in the 24th through 26th editions of Who’s Who in the West.
