Dr. Robin A. Pennington, Supervisory Mathematical Statistician at U.S. Census Bureau, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in statistics.
Backed by more than 15 years in the fields of mathematics and mathematical statistics, Dr. Pennington is currently a supervisory mathematical statistician at the United States Census Bureau. She previously served the Bureau as a mathematical statistician from 1998 to 2003 and as a geographic specialist from 1997 to 1998. Dr. Pennington’s experience spans three decennial censuses and their preparation phases. She is the recipient of two bronze medals for group and individual work. She commenced her professional career as an assistant professor of mathematics at Wartburg College in 1993. By 1996, she was an acting assistant professor of mathematics at Agnes Scott College. A member of the American Statistical Association, Dr. Pennington received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia in 1985, a Master’s from the University of Florida in 1988, and a PhD from Emory University in 1993.
In addition to her mathematical career, Dr. Pennington is a gifted singer, having performed as soloist and chorus member in a variety of ensembles. She serves as the soprano section leader of the choir at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill, where she also serves as a cantor and is a member of the professional vocal trio, titled PERI Trio. Additionally, Dr. Pennington has performed with the Cantate Chamber Singers and has provided her expertise to the group as a board member, treasurer, and gala chair. She is a member of A Musical Heart, who perform professional-caliber music for hospice patients, and is additionally active with the church growth committee at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square. To attest to her legacy, Dr. Pennington can also be found in the third edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
