Accruing more than 30 years of professional expertise in his field, Mr. Moritz has garnered a reputable name for himself as a mechanical engineer and consultant. Mr. Moritz grew up with the influence of his grandfather as the head of mathematics at the University of Washington and his uncle as a hydraulic engineer, who designed the locks for the Panama Canal. After serving in World War II with the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, he chose to pursue the family industry and he graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering in 1950 from the University of Minnesota and conducted postgraduate work at Western Reserve University. Having qualified in his field, Mr. Moritz is a registered professional engineer in the states of Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio.
Between 1950 and 1972, Mr. Moritz notably served as the vice president and general manager of the Waco Scaffold Shoring Company in Addison, Illinois. He went on to serve as the group vice president of Bliss and Laughlin Industries in Oak Brook from 1966 to 1983, rising to the position of the senior vice president in 1984 when the company rebranded to become AXIA Inc. He further distinguished himself as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of AXIA Inc. until 1989. A patentee in his field, Mr. Moritz then consulted for the Executive Service Corps of Chicago following his 1989 retirement. Mr. Moritz is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, MENSA and the Five Seasons Country Club, as well as the founder and past president of the Scaffold and Shoring Institute. Mr. Moritz and his career achievements may also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
