J. Bruce Jarvis, Retired Operations Manager at the United States Department of Defense, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in government operations.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Jarvis served with Squadron VW11 from 1956 to 1959 before being employed with AT&T in numerous locations across the United States. Starting off as a craftsman upon his departure from the military, he was subsequently promoted to the marketing department, accounting department, operations department, and the General Motors National Account, where he was an operations manager. Recruited to the United States Department of Defense (DOD) in 1989, his first job with the DOD was with a contracting company for telecommunication services, titled DipGo. From there, he served as the operations manager at the Scott Air Force Base until 1994 before becoming the operations manager, a position he held until his retirement in 2002.
Drawing upon studies in business at Fenn College, Wayne State University, and Indiana University, Mr. Jarvis is proudest of his work as a cutover manager for the DOD, in which he ensured that the DOD organizations cut their long-distance service to the FTS network over a period of two years. Utilizing his training from AT&T, he learned to contract for the DOD, thus proving himself to be a valuable asset to the team.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Jarvis has also authored two books, “Code Name Arc Angel” and “Willy Victor and 25 Knothole.” Looking toward the future, he intends to write an additional book. In recognition of his military and government service, he earned the Meritorious Civilian Award from the DOD.
