Holding years of experience in both restaurant and hotel management, Mr. Conrad was inspired to pursue his career by the comradery of breaking bread with friends and family. In 2003, he obtained an Associate of Arts in culinary arts from the California Culinary Academy and went on to commence his career as executive chef for Qube Restaurant in 2007. Currently, Ms. Conrad serves as the executive chef at Oak Steakhouse in Alexandria, Virginia, part of the Indigo Hospitality Group, since 2019. Mr. Conrad prides himself on utilizing unique techniques in his cooking and embracing what he has learned from other culinarians to drive his personal growth. He strives to have a seamless working relationship between the front and back of house operations and to provide each guest with an unparalleled dining experience. Looking ahead, Mr. Conrad envisions himself in a more corporate role overseeing a multi-unit region with the Indigo Hospitality Group.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Conrad was the executive sous chef at the Hay Adams Hotel, a four-star hotel property across the street from the White House in Washington, D.C., from 2017 to 2019. He calls this position the highlight of his career, as he had the opportunity to cook for and entertain guests of different heads of state including high profile U.S. government officials. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Conrad was the executive sous chef of Bourbon Steak in Washington, D.C., as well as executive chef of Bourbon Steak in Los Angeles in 2014. Additionally, he had served as chef de cuisine for Mina Group: Restaurant RN74 from 2012 to 2014 and Crush from 2011 to 2012, and was the owner and partner of Secret Stash Sea Salts from 2008 to 2011. Mr. Conrad’s advice to aspiring chefs is to do your diligence and do your research, as well as take a mentor and become a mentor when the opportunity arises.
