Alan Holm, Principal Owner at B&H Farms, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in farming.
The principal owner of B&H Farms and a farmer of nearly 40 years, Mr. Holm was elected to the CHS Board of Directors in 2013. Notably serving as chair of the board’s Government Relations Committee and a member of the Corporate Risk Committee, Mr. Holm was a former member and chair of the CHS Resolutions Committee. CHS, Inc. offers a full range of agronomy, energy, and marketing services to its members and is owned and operated by independent farmers and local cooperatives across the U.S. In his direct farming career, Mr. Holm partners with his daughter and son-in-law to raise corn, soybeans, sweet corn, peas, and hay, as well as a cow-calf herd, on their farm near Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, which has been in his family dating back to 1870.
Mr. Holm received an Associate’s degree in machine tool technology from Mankato Technical College in 1981 and completed a Director Professionalism course through the National Association of Corporate Directors. For his exceptional work, Mr. Holm was awarded a Certificate of Director Education and achieved Board Leadership Fellow status in 2016. He attributes the success of his career to his hard work and bravery to continue his education, as well as the support of his family. Mr. Holm remains willing to learn and is open to trying new ideas and strives to leave his farm better than when his father and grandfather owned the family business. Looking ahead, he hopes to pass on this family heirloom to his grandchildren. Mr. Holm holds membership with the Minnesota Corn Growers Association, Minnesota Soybean Growers Association, Minnesota Farmers Union and Minnesota Farmers Bureau. He is also involved with the Citizens Bank of Minnesota and sits on the board for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
