Paul Fisher Rhetts, Publishing Executive at LPD Press & Rio Grande Books, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in publishing.
Desiring to enter the communications industry from a young age, Mr. Rhetts attended Bucknell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and theater. After accruing several years in his field, he returned to college at the University of Southern California, taking coursework towards a master’s degree in public administration. Commencing his career as a theatre manager and English teacher in Lakemont, New York, he was subsequently hired by WMAL-TV in Washington, DC, as a public affairs producer and assistant film department manager. From there, he served the Maryland Center for Public Broadcasting as a public affairs producer.
Holding several executive roles in the latter half of his career, Mr. Rhetts served as a software beta tester for several companies while also establishing his own publishing company alongside his wife, , in 1984. Later founding Rio Grande Books in 2006 to publish books on a regional scale, Mr. Rhetts and his wife have distributed several stories of the Hispanic Southwest regarding local history, culture and art. Notably, Mr. Rhetts also published the Tradición Revista magazine, which has been the only U.S. magazine to cover Native American and Hispanic art and culture in the Southwest.
Mr. Rhetts and his wife have published more than 300 books since the inception of their publishing company, and he has also authored nearly 20 books over the course of his career. Most recently, he authored “Voices of New Mexico, Too” in 2013. In 2021, he expects to release “Fifty Years of Magic: Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.” Alongside his primary feats, he has also created the New Mexico Book Co-op as chief executive officer, which is New Mexico’s largest nonprofit volunteer book organization. He has earned numerous accolades in recognize of his work in publishing and philanthropy.
