Phyllis Herrick vonHerrlich, Retired Administrative Staff Member at the University of Maine Systems, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
Supported by nearly 40 years of experience in administration, Ms. vonHerrlich retired in 2010 after serving as an administrative staff member at the University of Maine Systems in Augusta beginning in 1988. Prior to this appointment, she served in the same capacity for the Brookline School Committee in Massachusetts and for the Massachusetts Medical Society in Waltham from 1983 to 1988. At the inception of her career in 1972, she was an administrative staff member for the Greater Boston Division of the American Heart Association in Brookline for five years.
Ms. vonHerrlich holds a certificate in Maine studies, a bachelor’s degree in university studies and a master’s degree, all from the University of Maine in Orono.
Equally passionate about volunteerism, she has served on the board of directors of the Augusta Colonial Theater and the Old Fort Western. Enjoying historical research on Maine women in the 19th century, she has contributed to the monograph “Augusta Women’s History Trail” and “Absolute Equality for Women in Law and Custom.” She also participated in Gail Laughlin’s fight for gender equality in the Maine legislature in 2010.
Maintaining affiliation with the Friends of the Maine State Museum and Kennebec Historical Society, Ms. vonHerrlich also served as a member of the Augusta Downtown Alliance, the Augusta Preservation Commission and the New Amsterdam Early Childhood Center, among other organizations. In her spare time, he enjoys writing, reading, walking and needlecrafts.
