Jerry Ketel, Founder and Creative Director at Leopold Ketel, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commercial art.
Throughout his entire life, Mr. Ketel always had an inclination for two things, art and serving others. Upon discovering the niche of commercial art, Mr. Ketel found the nexus between providing those kinds of artistic services, along with human service. In 1981, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Art in graphic design from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and since 1996, he has served as the distinguished founder and creative director of Leopold Ketel. In addition to his current role, Mr. Ketel had been the director of strategy for Culture of Future from 2012 to 2013 and president of the Portland Advertising Federation from 2007 to 2010. He spearheaded his career as a designer with Ryan Communications in 1985, going on to serve Turtledove Clemens, EvansGroup and Big Ads in art director positions. From 1993 to 1996, he gained executive experience as associate creative director of Gerber Advertising and as creative director of Leopold & Ray.
Renowned for his artistic capabilities, Mr. Ketel has been the recipient of a Webby Award, Essy Award, Mercury Award for radio advertising and New York Art Directors Award, now called the Art Directors Award. With Leopold Ketel being named a Top Creative Agency in the Portland Metropolitan Area, Mr. Ketel’s work has been notably presented in Newsday Communication Arts, further offering him a Futurist Certificate in 2020. Of his numerous career accomplishments, Mr. Ketel is most proud to have contributed to the Oregon Humane Society through his promotional campaign initiatives, which in turn helped increase adoption rates to 98 percent or better from a 30 to 60 percent range. Mr. Ketel attributes his career success to the talented and skilled mentors he learned from, and to his grandfather for being his greatest influence. Looking ahead, Mr. Ketel would like to continue to guide people and companies discover who they are on an artistic marketing and promotional level.
