Interested in the stock market since high school, Mr. Cary always knew he would pursue a career in finance. At the age of 18, he bought his first stock after reading the Wall Street Journal. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Russian area studies from the University of Missouri, he enrolled at the University of Kansas. There, he acquired a Master’s in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies. Though he didn’t study finance in college, he never forgot about his love for the field, which is what brought him to become a financial advisor at Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. in 1994. In 2018, alongside his prior position, he took on the role of a private wealth advisor. He remains with the company today, continuing to demonstrate consistent success in his role.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Cary spent eight years in the United States Army as a captain, retiring in 1992. He additionally acted as the treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America from 2009 until 2017. An active member of his community, he maintains affiliation with the Certified Financial Planner Organization. He is also on the advisory board for the Salvation Army. Looking back on his illustrious career, he attributes much of his success to his mindset. For Mr. Cary, failure was never an option. In the next five years, he is considering retirement, though he will always be passionate about his work.
