April Jackson, President at Jackson Sewing Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in sewing education and business.

Ms. Jackson is the owner and president of Jackson Sewing Academy, an online curriculum that teaches the skills and knowledge to become an alterations specialist. Previously, she served as a receptionist for Columbia Sportswear and a stylist at David’s Bridal. In 2017, she started Jackson Sewing and Academy, which preceded Jackson Sewing Academy by two years. To date, Ms. Jackson considers her greatest career achievement to be creating the courses for her academy. She attributes her success to not doubting herself despite what those around her might have said. She pursued her dreams without the fear of failure.

An active member of her industry, Ms. Jackson maintains affiliation with the London Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals. She became involved in the sewing community after participating in the “Stitch It” program in Canada, where she earned the highest score. This prompted her to make a living off of completing clothing alterations, and when she saw what a nice lifestyle it could provide, she wanted to pass along her skills to her family and friends. The rest was history. Currently, Ms. Jackson is doing her part to contribute toward COVID-19 relief by making face masks.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Jackson wants to create a new section of her academy where her students would engage in a dress-making content. Ideally, she would love to see this competition televised, as sewing programs have become popular recently. She additionally hopes to expand her school and potentially work with other businesses on a part-time basis. Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Jackson enjoys volunteering as a youth leader in Strathoy, Ontario, Canada.
