Andrea Joy Cooper, Zone Control Supervisor at United Airlines, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in aviation.
From watching her father excel as a pilot, Ms. Cooper longed to pursue a career within aviation. His stories made her feel that aviation was a challenge that required skill and precision, and she always wanted to be involved in something that would challenge her. After serving as a receptionist for Texas and Oklahoma Occupational Medical Services and an office manager for Paris Neurological Associates, Ms. Cooper spearheaded her career in aviation as a dispatcher in 2013. From 2013 to 2017, she worked for Trans States Airlines as a crew scheduler, aircraft dispatcher and dispatch manager on duty before serving as an operations manager for a regional airline. Now working in air traffic operations, since 2017, Ms. Cooper has excelled as a zone control supervisor for United Airlines. In five years’ time, Ms. Cooper envisions herself working as an operations manager for United Airlines at its headquarters in Chicago.
Ms. Cooper attributes her career success to her faith, hard work and dedication to doing more than her best, as well as the excellent mentors she had in college and in the professional field. A member of Women in Aviation, she describes her favorite career highlight as working with her team during irregular and challenging operations. No matter how impossible the operation may seem, she believes when the team works together they will always reach a successful end. Upon Ms. Cooper’s admittance to college, she received an Associate of Science in air traffic control and a Bachelor of Science in air traffic management from LeTourneau University in 2013 and 2016, respectively. She also holds a private pilot license from 2011 and an airline dispatcher certification from Jeppesen Academy, acquired in 2013. Ms. Cooper is currently in pursuit of a Master’s degree in aeronautics from Embry Riddle University.
