Yvonne C. Turner, MA, NREMT, CALEA, Retired Assistant Chief of Police/CALEA Assessor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.
Growing up in a military family, Ms. Turner had experienced constant relocating in her youth. Upon choosing a college, she settled at South Carolina State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice in 1987. In the years following her graduation, she was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserves. After remaining with the military until 1995, she went on to earn a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from Webster University in Missouri. Simultaneously, Ms. Turner upheld the role of Sargent at Charleston County Sheriff’s Office until 1998. That same year, she became the assistant chief of police at the City of Goose Creek Police Department and excelled in her role until her retirement in 2002. Despite commencing her retirement, Mrs. Turner has continued to serve as the Governor’s appointed commissioner for the Goose Creek Recreation District Commission.
In 2000, Ms. Turner’s numerous career accomplishments were featured in an article in Police Chief Magazine. To remain aware of advancements in her industry, she maintains affiliation with the Low Country Firefighters Assistance Team, the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Honor Society at South Carolina State University. Looking back on her myriad achievements, Ms. Turner attributes her success to her parents, who consistently served as motivation to succeed. In the next five years, Ms. Turner hopes to become a member of the State Guard and work under the Governor.
