Senator Raymond Lesniak, President at The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in government and politics.
A graduate of St. John’s University in Queens, New York, Mr. Lesniak earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1974, building off his previously acquired Bachelor of Arts in economics from Rutgers University. In the months following his exit from law school, he decided that he wanted to do more with his degree than practice standard law. From his studies and serving with the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969, Mr. Lesniak strived to change the world and soon became inspired to work in politics. He officially began his career as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly in 1979. Remaining there until 1983, Mr. Lesniak proceeded to work in several different government branches, including the New Jersey State Senate from for 36 years, residing as a member of District 20 until 2019. Additionally, he was the chairman of the New Jersey State Democratic Party from 1992 to 1993 and the founder of the Raymond J. Lesniak Recovery High School in 2014.
In 2019, Mr. Lesniak founded the Lesniak Institute for American Leadership at Kane University in Union, New Jersey. Notably, the Lesniak Institute for American Leadership works to develop the next generation of American leaders by teaching the principles of effective advocacy, offering first-hand experience through its causes and collaborating with grassroots organizations. Mr. Lesniak spearheaded the institute as a way to encourage the younger generation of professionals to follow their dreams and inspire them to find what brings them joy and happiness in life. He feels this is a value that is unfortunately overlooked often in society but is vital for professional happiness and valuable contributions. This realization served as the initial inspiration behind his decision to work with individuals aspiring to pursue a career in his industry.
In light of his consistent professional success, Mr. Lesniak has earned numerous awards and accolades throughout the course of his career. Some of the most notable honors in his collection include the International Human Rights Award granted from Normandy, France in 2009 and the Legislator of the Year Award from the Sierra Club in 2017. The latter was presented to him in recognition of his work on banning ivory, rhino horns and the use of wild animals in circuses in New Jersey. In addition, Mr. Lesniak was named Man of the Year by the Jewish National Fund in 1993 and was granted the Humane Legislator Award from the Humane Society of the United States in 2016. He was also been named to the SBC Sports Betting Hall of Fame in 2019 and is a recipient of the 2020 Humanitarian Award from the Hope For Children Research Foundation.
Presently, Mr. Lesniak is in the process of writing his multiple memoirs. He hopes to have the first one published by the fall of 2021. As a further testament to his success, Mr. Lesniak is featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Politics and Who’s Who in the East. Likewise, he is a 2020 recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a featured member in the Marquis Millennium Magazine and an honoree of the Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award.
