Abdirahman Kahin, Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Afro Deli & Grill, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business management.
Mr. Kahin always believed in the American Dream. He wanted to pursue an idea that was unique and innovative to the world. He earned an Associate of Arts in film and media at the Minneapolis Community & Technical College in 2004. In 2014, he received a Master of Business Administration in management from the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business in 2014.
Mr. Kahin attributes his success to his community because he does a great deal of charity work. He started his career as a producer and director with Eagle Media Productions from 2000-2010. From there, he opened Afro Deli & Grill in Minneapolis in 2010. He is currently the chief executive officer and founder. Mr. Kahin also has locations in Saint Paul, that opened in 2015 and two locations in Minneapolis that opened in 2019. Alongside those locations, since 2018, he has also worked as the co-owner of Campus Café-Turkish Grill. Mr. Kahin would like to continue to grow his business internationally, as one of the first African deli chains. He wants to have at least 25 restaurants nationally.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Kahin was selected to the Young American Leadership Program by the Harvard School of Business in 2020, named Best Independent Business in Minnesota by Indie Business Minnesota in 2019, received a special mention in a State of the Union Address and an Indie Award from the Metro Independent Business Association. He was also named Top Minority-Owned Business by the Saint Paul Chamber of Congress in 2018. In his spare time, Mr. Kahin is a member of the Saint Paul Chamber of Congress and the National Diversity Advisory Board. He also is a mentor to Young Entrepreneurs.
