Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States
Jasmine D. Rippy, Esq., Co-Founder at The Rippy + Sheikh Law Firm PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
Ms. Rippy always wanted to be an entrepreneur. She had aspirations as a child to open a restaurant with her family. Eventually, it grew into her deciding to practice law and open her own firm. Her father, Derrick V. Rippy, is also an attorney, a government lawyer working for the Department of Justice. She followed his example, though only to an extent because he never worked for a firm like she did. However, he was a big influence and served as an inspiration for who she is today. Ms. Rippy branched out and started her own business with her friend later on once she had earned herself a positive reputation in her field. She feels her success is a result in part of her education, as it provided her with a strong foundation off which to build a career. Ms. Rippy earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and government from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011. She then received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2015.
Ms. Rippy feels that she would not be able to do her job anywhere else besides Detroit, Michigan. It is a great place with a ton of entrepreneurs and there is creative energy flowing through the city. It is something that she has not experienced anywhere else. Ms. Rippy finds it most rewarding that she is able to give back and help people. For instance, in criminal law, she often performs expungement, which is helping people get their records cleaned and get their jobs back. She has vindicated people wrongfully accused of crimes and she has helped businesses realize their goals and grow. Every day, she is rewarded by her work. She began her career in 2015 as an associate attorney with Bodman PLC. She remained with the firm until 2017, which is when she became a managing attorney with Rippy PLC for a year. Since 2019, she has held the position of co-founder and shareholder of The Rippy + Sheikh Law Firm PC. In the future, Ms. Rippy would like to continue to grow her practice as well as grow the Ladies in Law brand. As a testament to her success, Ms. Rippy was named as Board Member of the Year by the Wolverine Bar Association in 2018.
