Maria O. Pryshlak, PhD, Rector at Ukrainian Freie Universitat, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
Growing up, Dr. Pryshlak was had always held an interest in education, especially in teaching history. As her interests grew, she became more dedicated to her work and followed them around the world. Prior to embarking on her quest for professional success, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in history and political philosophy from Columbia University. Dr. Pryshlak began her career as the director of the East Central European Scholarship Program at Georgetown University in 1990. She remained with the university until 2008, going on to travel to Poland where she became the president of Lazarski University. In addition, she was a member of the special task force for curriculum at the Ministry of Higher Education. In 2011, she relocated to Germany, taking on the role of dean of social sciences and law faculty at Ukrainische Freie Universitat. Five years later, Dr. Pryslak was promoted to become the rector at the university, the role in which she continues to excel today.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Pryshlak is an active member of her professional community. She has previously been an elected member on the board of trustees at Lazarski University, as she has additionally served on the Fulbright Commission. Currently, she is a board member on the Foundation on Civic Space and Public Policy. Reflecting on her success, Dr. Pryshlak attributes her accomplishments to her willingness to fearlessly take risks. Further, she is meticulous to detail and organized structure, which has proved to be beneficial in advancing her career. As a testament to her success, Dr. Pryshlak earned the Certificate of Recognition and Merit from the Ministry of Higher Education in Poland in 2009.
