Steven R. Kelly, Purchasing Professional at Ford Motor Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the automotive industry.
Commencing his career as a sales representative in 1993, Mr. Kelly also worked in marketing for a local Detroit company that specialized in construction and engineering management. Backed by a Bachelor of Science in organizational management and leadership from Saint Mary’s College, he was marketing their services and products using computer graphics, computer design and Ted platters. Intrigued by Megatech Engineering, Mr. Kelly reached out to find out what their needs were but found it hard to get a hold of anyone at the company. He found out that all their needs were being procured to the front office and the administrative assistant was managing it all. He wrote a letter to the president of the company telling him that if there was ever a purchasing need for the company to let him know because he would be interested. To Mr. Kelly’s surprise, about one or two months later, he got a call from Mr. Kirby who offered him a position in sales.
In 1993, Mr. Kelly began his professional purchasing career. He has worked for several Fortune 100 companies, primarily in the automotive industry with procurement disciplines in information technology, direct manufacturing, Indirect/MRO, facilities and property management, environmental engineering and waste management commodities. Mr. Kelly became a senior buyer of information technology services for General Motors Corp. in 2003, remaining until 2007. From 2007 to 2011, he was an information technology sourcing manager with Navistar, Inc. Since 2011, he has been a purchasing professional with the Ford Motor Company. As a testament to his success, Mr. Kelly has received yearly Recognition Awards from the Ford Motor Company.
