Jim Lushine, Meteorologist at the National Weather Service has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Growing up, Mr. Lushine loved the rain. When it came time to pursue a formal education, he attended Penn State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in meteorology. In the years that followed, he completed graduate coursework at Florida State University and the University of Miami. Since 1974, Mr. Lushine has excelled as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Lushine earned the Mitchell Award from the American Meteorological Society. He has additionally acquired numerous Hurricane Awards for his work. Reflecting on his abundant success, he credits his curiosity about the weather, which inspired him to learn everything about weather patterns and how they affect people. He considers the highlight of his career to be his experience in rip current forecasting, as he published a landmark paper on the correlation between rip current deaths, specific weather, and oceanographic conditions. In the coming years, he hopes to become involved with local newspapers’ meteorology coverage.
