Barbara N. Bieri, Retired Systems Analyst and Consultant at Database Systems, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in programming.

Backed by a Bachelor of Science in education from St. Francis College from 1972, Ms. Bieri spent the first 10 years of her professional career as an educator. From 1971 to 1977, she was a mathematics and science teacher at St. Anthony School in Trenton, New Jersey, as well as a mathematics teacher at Cumberland Regional High School in Seabrook, New Jersey from 1977 to 1982. At this point, Ms. Bieri desired to take on a new career path and chose to take a programmer exam, which was comprised of mostly algebra questions. Impressively, she scored the highest in the state and subsequently went on to spearhead her profession in programming.

Most recently in her programming career, Ms. Bieri was a systems analyst and consultant for Database Systems in 2017. As a consultant, Ms. Bieri’s products and services included creating programs for businesses that were facing internal technological issues. Coining herself as a problem solver, she specialized in oracle programming before beginning her retirement. Today, she maintains membership with the National Association of Female Executives, New Jersey Novell Users Group, MDBS Users Group and Oracle Users Group. Additionally, she remains involved with Gamma Sigma Sigma, of which she served as vice president in 1971 and 1972, and was the committeewoman for the Democratic Party in Bridgeton, New Jersey in 1980.

At the start of her programming career, between 1982 and 1984, Ms. Bieri served as a programmer and analyst for the New Jersey Department of Human Services and the Computer Services Group. Moving up, she was a senior computer systems designer for Martin Marietta Data Systems from 1984 to 1986 and a senior system manager for Storey Ross Barker, Inc. from 1987 to 1990. Ms. Bieri then pivoted to a consulting role for BPN and MIACO Corp. for the next four years before excelling as a senior system analyst for Data Based Systems International until 1999. After taking a medical leave from work until 2004, she spent her first year back to a workplace setting with Barnes & Nobles. From 2005 to 2017, Ms. Bieri was a customer service representative for the Hamilton, New Jersey YMCA.

Looking back on her illustrious career, Ms. Bieri recalls working on a contract for the state of Ohio with Storey Ross Barker as a highlight. In her role, she was responsible for installing program software, installing the operating system and ensuring workability for machines that were to be distributed to each county. She attributes the success of her career to the mentors who constantly motivated her, Barbara Crescenzo and Leroy Ruggiero. In five years’ time, she hopes to enjoy her retirement and take up more travel, reading and needlecrafts. To attest to her legacy, Ms. Bieri can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
