Dean J. Kropp, President, Author, Actor, Producer, and Host at DJK Productions, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the culinary arts.
Drawing upon more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Kropp excels as a world-renowned pastry chef, chef for celebrities and other prominent figures, published author, photographer, and competitor in the Culinary Olympics. Retiring from the culinary arts in 2000, he began his career in 1976 as a short-order diner cook, and upon the recognition of his advanced culinary skills, he advanced to become a sought-after executive pastry chef in luxury restaurants and hotels across the globe. He began entering culinary competitions in the early 1980s and won a Bronze Medal in “garde manger,” a pastry Arts Bronze Medal in 1981, a Pastry Arts Gold Medal in 1983, and a Pastry Arts International Gold Medal in 1987 – all under the direction of the American Culinary Federation. Since 1992, he has been the president of DJK Productions in New York.
While recovering from injuries sustained in an accident, Mr. Kropp became inspired to write a book of his culinary experiences, titled “The Cooking Olympics: World’s Best-Kept Secret,” which is awaiting publication. Likewise, his research on the history of the Culinary Olympics was published in the World Association of Chefs Societies Magazine in Paris in 2010 and 2012, and his photographs were published in New York Living in 2017. In recognition of his outstanding undertakings, he was recognized by C-Cap New York Award with an Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Culinary Arts in 2000, and he has also earned several other citations for culinary excellence from the U.S. Army Culinary Arts Program in 1999. He has maintained an association with the American Culinary Foundation and SAG-AFTRA.
