Establishing Waste Pro USA, Inc., in 2001, Mr. Jennings currently serves as chairman of the board, in which he has transformed the waste management company into one of the most innovative waste businesses in the United States. Initially starting out with just $800 in revenue within the first month of business, the company now operates in 11 Southeastern states with a team of over 4,000 members with revenue in excess of $733 million. Prior to developing Waste Pro USA, Mr. Jennings started out humbly in the industry, accompanying truck drivers to witness their experiences firsthand. He transformed that company into Jennings Environmental Services, the largest privately-owned waste disposal company in Central Florida at that time. Jennings Environmental Services subsequently merged with USA Waste Services, Inc., in 1996, in which the company became a subsidiary and Mr. Jennings was recognized as regional vice president for the Florida and Caribbean regions. From there, Mr. Jennings spearheaded Waste Pro USA.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Jennings served in several finance and marketing roles with such companies as G.A. Saxton & Co., Inc., the Academy of Applied Motivation, Entrepreneurial Development Corp., Inc., Storybook Village, Inc., Jennings & Jennings Associates, and Security National Bank of America, commencing his career in 1968. Now leveraging 52 years of professional experience, he has utilized his expertise to provide premier services to the waste management industry.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Jennings received a Bachelor of Science in management and a Master of Business Administration in finance from St. John’s University in 1968 and 1970, respectively. He was certified as an investment analyst by the New York Institute of Finance in 1969.
To attest to his success, Mr. Jennings has accrued numerous accolades. Between 2018 and 2020, he has been recognized as one of Florida Trend’s 500 Most Influential Business Leaders, and in 2020, recently received a Legacy Award by MSW Management, the official journal of the Solid Waste Association of North America. Earlier, he was elected to the Hall of Fame of the National Solid Waste Management Association in 2011, and that same year, was an honorary keynote speaker of the Executive Roundtable for America’s Solid Waste Leaders. Likewise, he received the 1972 Motivator of the Year Award and the 1968 Human Relations Award. In 2020, Marquis Who’s Who bestowed upon him the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Jennings intends to spend more time developing the Waste Pro Historical Museum, which shows the history of the environment as it relates to waste and recycling, as well as the process of the waste business, including collecting and disposing of debris. He has been highlighted in the first edition of Who’s Who in America and the 20th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
