Title: Founder, Trustee
Company: The Retreat New Zealand
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Roger D. Green, Founder and Trustee at The Retreat New Zealand, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in addiction recovery.
Upon receiving addiction treatment in the United Kingdom and the United States, Mr. Green was surprised to discover there was little effective treatment in his home country of New Zealand. With the support of friends and family, he went on to spearhead The Retreat New Zealand in 2012, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. Backed by certification in drug and alcohol dependency treatment from the Hazleton Foundation from 1970, Mr. Green is proud to offer a safe and caring environment led by highly experienced employees and volunteers whose drinking, drug or other substance abuse problems have been solved. With a program firmly grounded in 12 steps, which fosters honesty, integrity, accountability and change, guests can find their path to sobriety through awareness and education.
In addition to his endeavors with The Retreat New Zealand, Mr. Green has also served as chief executive officer of the Stepping Stones Recovery Trust since 2006 and as a clinician with Recovery Resources since 2002. Earlier, from 1983 to 1990, he was chief executive officer of RGM Meat Exporters. Mr. Green attributes his career success to following the model that ensures success and helping people break free from a life of dependency. A board member of Alcoholic and Drug Councilors, he also maintains membership with the National Board of Addiction Councilors and Advanced Alcohol and Drug Councilors. In five years’ time, he hopes to keep expanding his treatment methods, providing further support for people who graduated from the program and fill the beds with primary treatment. Today, Mr. Green proudly celebrates 40 years of sobriety.
