George W. Hamlin, President at Hamlin Transportation Consulting, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in transportation.

Intrigued by the transportation industry from a young age, Mr. Hamlin went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from Washington and Lee University in 1970 and a Master of Science in transportation from Northwestern University in 1975. Having accrued five decades of experience in the field, he spearheaded Hamlin Transporting Consulting in Fairfax, Virginia in 2005. As president, Mr. Hamlin collaborates with clients varying from manufacturers, airports, airlines and more. Simultaneously, he served as vice president of Morten Beyer & Agnew in 2006 and 2007 and as managing director of ACA Associates from 2007 to 2009.

Mr. Hamlin commenced his career with Trans World Airlines in New York City, in which he was a part-time customer service agent, financial analyst and manager of cargo market planning between 1970 and 1978. He went on to serve as director of schedule planning for Texas International Airlines from 1978 to 1981, as well as a staff specialist and manager of new business development for Lockheed-Georgia from 1981 to 1989. Mr. Hamlin had also excelled in such roles as director of strategic planning for Airbus Industries North America from 1989 to 1996, senior vice president of Global Aviation Associates from 1996 to 2003 and director and principal advisor of MergeGlobal from 2003 to 2005.

To accompany his knowledge of transportation, Mr. Hamlin is the author of six books and more than 250 published articles to professional journals and transportation industry press. In the 1990s, he authored, “Skyliners,” “Skyliners 2” and “Skyliners 3.” More recently, in 2019, he published, “Auto-Train in Color” and “70s-Style Passenger Trains Around New York City,” as well as “Chicago Railroad Scenes in Color, Volume 2” from 2012. Likewise, Mr. Hamlin has contributed commentary on transportation subjects for radio, television and print media. He is currently working on publishing his seventh book.

In order to remain abreast of advancements and changes to his industry, Mr. Hamlin maintains affiliation with the World Airline Historical Society, Washington Airline Society, International Aviation Club and International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading, of which he was on the Appraisers International Board of Governors in 1994. Reflecting on his career highlights, he is particularly fond of giving hundreds of business presentations, including one that was delivered on a freight train. In his spare time, he enjoys photography and writing. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Hamlin can also be found in the 23rd edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
