Richard Todd Furches, Host of “The Morning Buzz” at 105.5 The Bridge, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in radio broadcasting.

Mr. Furches dreamed of being on the radio since he was a child in the 1970s, recalling the times his mother would catch him pretending to be a DJ with his record player. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina in 1990 and quickly spearheaded his career in the industry. In 1991, he began working for the Charleston County Public Library as an extension department facilitator and for WAVF-FM 96 WAVE the Beach Company as a morning show co-host. Pivoting to education, Mr. Furches was a teacher at Fort Dorchester High School for three years until 1999. Returning to radio, between 1999 and 2012, he flourished as a morning show host for WSC-AM 730 Clear Channel Communications, a morning show co-host and music director for Coast 92.5-FM Apex Broadcasting and a morning show host for WTMA AM-1250 “The Big Talker.” He had also been a simulation specialist for the Medical University of South Carolina in 2018 and 2019.

Now a renowned radio host of nearly 30 years, Mr. Furches currently excels as the host of “The Morning Buzz” on 105.5 The Bridge. Taking on the role in 2019, he greets all listeners between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. every weekday. In addition, he is also the host of the Lowcountry Toddcast, a local podcast where he talks with the movers and shakers, personalities and celebrities from the area and the music and entertainment worlds. Finding great success in his career, Mr. Furches has been abundantly awarded by the Charleston City Paper for Best Local Radio Personality, Best Local Talk Show Host and Best Local Radio Show. He was also named a Legendary Local by the city of Charleston in 2017. He attributes his success to the great example his parents offered him, as well as to the reputation he built in the community through the airwaves and online. Mr. Furches is honored to serve as a regular presence in the lives of his listeners and is flattered that they care enough to listen to his opinions, jokes and stories each day. He believes getting paid to talk, play music and inform the local community is the best profession he could have pursued.
