Anthony R. Cavaleri, MPA, MSW and Law, Founder at HUGS USA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in community service.
As a result of his unique educational and professional experience, along with an epiphany upon donating to a homeless man, Mr. Cavaleri spearheaded his non-profit organization, HUGS USA, in 2010. Standing for “hats, umbrellas/underwear, gloves, scarves/socks,” the organization is dedicated to helping the elderly and underserved communities obtain the clothing they need to stay warm and healthy during the long and harsh New York City winters. Having served people aged 60 to 106, Mr. Cavaleri has sought to explore today’s complex public health challenges, along with the political, legal and economic forces that shape health care systems. Along with his advocacy, his daily responsibilities consist of calling shelters, picking up and dropping off donations and conducting speaker presentations. Looking ahead, he hopes to contribute to his community on a larger scale and find a larger storage space for all goods.
Notably, Mr. Cavaleri received a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Empire State College. He went on to achieve a Master of Public Administration from the Columbia University School of International Public Affairs in 2006 and a Master of Social Work and law dual degree in geriatric law from the Columbia University School of Social Work and Law School in 2008. Leading up to his career dedicated to community service, Mr. Cavaleri worked for a Brooklyn law office, the Department of Aging and a district leader. He had also been a health care and social services consultant for Elder Blue Solutions. In addition, Mr. Cavaleri has been featured on various shows, including, “Saturday Night Live,” “The Rainbow Experiment,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “The Sopranos,” “Life on Mars,” “Guiding Light,” “30 Rock” and “Sex in the City,” as well as various commercials.
