Daniel E. Gamba, CFA, Managing Director and Co-Head of Fundamental Equities at Blackrock, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and investment management.
Having accrued more than 20 years of professional experience in the world of finance, Mr. Gamba has worked for Blackrock in New York City since 2000. Currently serving as managing director and co-head of fundamental equities, he is responsible for active equities business strategy and leads product, marketing and client activities to drive commercial success in fundamental and systematic active equities in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific. Since 2015, he has been on the Board of Governors at the CFA Institute, and since 2020, has served as its chair. Prior to his current roles, he served the company as global head of active equity product strategy, head of Americas institutional iShares business and co-head of iShares U.S., regional head of Latin America and Iberia, chief executive officer of Latin America and the Caribbean and director of global strategy.
Before embarking on his career with Blackrock, Mr. Gamba was a management consultant at A.T. Kearney from 1997 to 2005. A marketing intern for American Express in 1996, he previously worked for Proctor & Gamble as an assistant brand manager and product development supervisor between 1990 and 1995. An industrial engineer by trade, Mr. Gamba attributes his vast professional success to passion and always finding ways to overcome his obstacles. He adds that growing up in Peru with little to no resources made him incredibly innovative, which only fueled his desire to learn. He also believes he owes credit to his mentor, Henry Fernandez.
Mr. Gamba received a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in 1989 and a Master of Business Administration in economics and finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1997. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst, with a focus in financial analysis, by the CFA Institute in 2003, in which he has served as chair of the board of governors since 2015. Previously, he served as chair of the audit and risk committee and co-chair of the societies partnership advisory council and is a board member of Northwestern University’s Alumni Association.
